How to set up page image links in Featured Gallery

The featured gallery only displays images from Posts and not pages.

Therefore what we do in order to set up a Featured gallery photo display link to a page is as follows:

Example: Setting up a featured gallery image link for the "About Us" page.

Step 1) Create a post and name it exactly the same as the page "About Us". That creates a permalink of "/about-us/" for the post which in fact is the exact same permalink as the page. This way,.. the permalink for the post always points to the page as it was created first and has precedence over posts.

Now you have a blank post page with only the title "About Us" in place.

Step 2) Copy to clipboard the opening paragraph (or any paragraph of choice) from the About Us page and paste it into the Post for About Us (do this in html mode in the editor). Then save. Select the category of "Slider" for the post (this category is automatically included in all "base site" installations or you can create one for yourself). This way,.. we are creating dummy posts for an exlusive category to the sliding gallery and that way you wont get dummy linked posts appearing in say the "articles" page.

Step 3) Now click on the "add featured image" link in the bottom right column of the page editor. You would select the image that is already appearing on the About Us page from the "gallery" image option in the light box media selector for setting of featured image. Once that image is displayed for you in the lightbox click on the "use as featured image link" and you're done. Now that image will be used as the featured image for the post which appears in the featured gallery.

This creates the image and text snippet in the featured gallery that will link to the About Us page when clicking on the "read more" link in the slide up text panel.
